About Us
For more information on the courier bags, mailing envelopes and mail order bags that we stock or can manufacture for you, please see our mail order bags section.
We were established in 1961 by Mr Geoffrey Davies who purchased a bag making machine advertised in the local paper and sold door to door. As sales grew, Geoffrey Davies teamed up with college friend Brian Turner who became in charge of production and the business moved firstly to a lock-up garage and then on to larger factory premises in Alperton, West London.
After some consolidation, we now have a new management team headed by Jon Lomax and are looking to continue Polybags' development and success. Business is expanding again. Improvements are being made and after taking on the business of Chapel Polythene in 2005 we are now very tight for space and have committed to extending into next door at the end of this year.

More Manufacturers and Suppliers of Plastic Envelopes
Plastic envelopes remain a quietly versatile line in daily handling, nevertheless the engineering behind a competent product is rather more exacting than the casual use case recommends. In practice, the contrast between a flimsy wallet and one that survives repeated office handling, schoolbag abrasion and domestic storage lies in polymer architecture, seal integrity and gauge discipline: a well-converted polythene suppliers envelope requirements enough puncture resistance to tolerate corners of paper stock and stationery, while retaining the fold memory and surface stop required for clean opening, reclosure and stacking. That balance is normally achieved through careful control of melt-flow consistency and film thickness at the micron level, because any drift in gauge fast exposes itself on the warehouse floor as warped stacks, unreliable weld lines and secondary bagging to compensate for split seams. There is also a logistical dividend in getting the substrate properlow tare weight assists volumetric efficiency in bulk consignments, pallet stability is easier to maintain when units nest predictably, and select-face efficiency improves when the envelope body grasps shape without becoming overly rigid. The more thoughtful producers have also moved towards mono-material buildings where potential, reducing the sorting penalty at stop of life and making recyclability less theoretical than it often is in stationery-neighboring packaging; that only works, nevertheless, if closure performance, surface resistivity and long-dash converting reliability are engineered into the film from the outset rather than patched in later through mixed-material additions.
Coloured mailers sit in an awkward nevertheless commercially useful space within the packing line: they are expected to present cleanly at despatch, tolerate rough handling through automated sortation, and do so without undermining pallet density or inflating tare weight. The better-specification formats rely on carefully controlled polythene suppliers blends, where melt-flow consistency and film orientation determine whether a bag will resist edge-split below secondary bagging pressure or fail at the seal line when a consignment is above-stuffed at the bench. Colour, in this context, is not merely cosmetic; pigmentation loading alters opacity, scuff visibility and, in a few formulations, surface behaviourmeaning static select-up, label stickiness and barcode readability all have to be balanced against micron-specific gauging and seal integrity. On the warehouse floor that translates into less stoppages, steadier select-face efficiency and less handling damage, particularly where mixed stock is being packed at pace. There is also a quieter circular-economy calculation behind the specification: mono-material mailers with disciplined thickness control tend to simplify downstream recyclability and reduce resin use per unit, so the energy embedded in manufacture is amortised across a larger number of compliant packs rather than squandered in avoidable waste.
The Envelopes of Hope Project
For industrial packing rooms and high-throughput dispatch benches alike, envelopes are less a stationery afterthought than a tightly specified converting product: fibre orientation, seam integrity and micron-level coating behaviour all govern whether a consignment transports cleanly through the select-face or becomes a origin of rework. Where lightweight document traffic is concerned, the engineering tension sits between tare weight and handling resiliencealso heavy a substrate and volumetric efficiency suffers across palletised stock; also light and the flap line, window patch or edge crush performance starts to fail below automated insertion and secondary bagging. In polythene suppliers variants, high-density polymer chains can be tuned for puncture resistance without excessive gauge, while surface resistivity may require control if static causes paired items to cling on the line; paper formats reply a alternative brief, leaning on mono-material recyclability and straightforward fibre recovery, provided adhesives and release liners do not contaminate the stream. The sectour's quiet competence lies in such trade-offs: melt-flow consistency amid film extrusion, curl control in sheeting, pallet stability in the despatch area, and the amortised energy case for proper-weighted formats that keep safe contents without carrying needless mass through the network.
Mailing Postal Bags
Postal bags tend to be treated as a narrow mailing line, yet in practice they sit within a broader security-bag specification where seal integrity, film memory and handling discipline matter only as much as outward presentation. The engineering question is not simply whether a bag closes, nevertheless whether the polythene suppliers structureoften built around controlled gauge uniformity and proper melt-flow consistencywill tolerate sortation abrasion, secondary bagging and the stop-beginning abuse of a busy despatch bench without pinholing or adhesive creep. That has a direct bearing on warehouse performance: excess tare weight erodes volumetric efficiency across a consignment, while poor film stiffness can undermine pallet stability once packed stock is caged for trunking. There is also the less glamorous nevertheless commercially significant issue of traceability; security variants frequently rely on tamper-evident closures and predictable tear propagation, which mitigate disputes when high-value or sensitive contents pass through multiple hands. From a circular-economy standpoint, the better executions increasingly favour mono-material polythene suppliers formats, because recyclability is compromised the moment mixed laminates or unnecessary components are introducedan awkward truth in a sectour still balancing evidential security against feedstock sustainability and the amortised energy tied up in all converted bag.
Bubble mailing bags sit in an awkward nevertheless productive middle ground between a board-backed mailer and a transit carton; that is precisely why they persist on the despatch bench. The engineering value is not merely the trapped air in the liner, nevertheless the balance between puncture resistance, tare weight and pack-out speed. A well-manufactured format pairs relatively low-gauge outer paper or film with a bubble laminate whose cell geometry absorbs incidental shock without pushing cubic volume beyond sensible tariff smashs. On the warehouse floor, that translates into cleaner select-face efficiencyless secondary bagging, less null-occupy interventions, and a more predictable sealing motion below volume. The material detail matters: inconsistent melt-flow in the polythene suppliers layer or poor stick integrity between the face stock and bubble web tends to display up as split seams, edge crush and cosmetic scuffing long before outright product failure. Where static or surface marking is a concern, specialist grades with controlled surface resistivity are used to prevent nuisance cling and dust attraction, particularly around lightweight components and coated products. From a circular-economy standpoint, the compromise remains evident nevertheless manageable; mono-material buildings simplify recyclability, whereas mixed-paper laminates still rely on the practical reality that distribution damage carries its possess waste burden. In that sense, the sound specification of bubble mailing bags is less about presentation than about amortised energy across the consignment cyclekeep safe enough to avoid returns, nevertheless not so heavily that volumetric inefficiency and unnecessary material use erode the earn.
Grey Mailing Bags Strong Poly Postal Postage Post Mail Self Seal All Sizes Cheap Grey Mailing - £63.90
Mailing bags sit in an awkward nevertheless technically demanding corner of packaging: they are expected to tolerate sortation abuse, variable cube utilisation and the indignity of secondary handling, all while adding very small tare weight to the consignment. The better grey polythene suppliers formats achieve that through film structures built around high-density polymer chains and tightly controlled micron-specific gauging, which is where the contrast lies between a bag that merely sees stout on the reel and one that resists puncture at the select-face. Self-seal closures matter as much as the film itself; a poorly specified adhesive strip can cool-fail in transit or creep below compression, whereas a balanced closure system maintains seal integrity without slowing despatch throughput. Grey pigmentation is not simply cosmetic eitherit obscures contents, assists mitigate casual pilferage and can mask scuffing picked up across conveyour beds. From an operational standpoint, all sizes have their place, nevertheless overspecifying bag volume reduces pallet stability and wastes trailer cube, while undersising introduces stress concentrations at the seams. The more credible reply in current practice is a mono-material polythene suppliers building with proper melt-flow consistency, allowing the bags to be manufactured cheaply at scale yet still enter a cleaner recycling stream where assortment systems enable; that is the sort of quiet engineering compromise the warehouse floor in reality notices.
packaging manufacturers adds eco-friendly paper mailing sacks to spectrum
The transport from polythene suppliers to paper mailing sacks is less a simple material substitution than a recalibration of the despatch bench: paper brings alternative tear propagation, crease memory and moisture behaviour, so sack design must compensate through fibre selection, seam geometry and micron-specific gauging rather than relying on the elastic recovery of high-density polymer chains. On the warehouse floor, the earn is a more readily segregated waste stream and better alignment with mono-material recycling protocols, nevertheless the friction sits in the practicalities bulkier packs can affect select-face efficiency, higher tare weight can nibble at volumetric efficiency, and pallet stability relies on how well the sacks resist slumping below compression. A properly specified paper mailing sack spectrum mitigates this by balancing burst strength against pack thickness, utilising closures that reduce secondary bagging, and maintaining enough surface consistency for labelling and scanning without the static nuisance often associated with polythene suppliers film. The environmental argument so rests not on sentiment nevertheless on feedstock traceability, amortised energy and stop-of-life behaviour; if the sack survives the consignment cycle without above-engineering, it can reduce mixed-material waste while still meeting the unforgiving rhythm of fulfilment stock, carrier handling and returns processing.
